The School believes that involvement in sports programmes, with their emphasis on physical fitness, skill and team building, is an important part of School life. Disciplined care of the body and the cultivation of temperate habits are essential for healthy living. For this reason, sport is compulsory for all boys from Years 3 to 12.
In the Middle School, sporting activities are provided in a range of different areas catering for the abilities of all boys. The emphasis is on team sports in order to encourage co-operation, camaraderie and mutual respect. Competitiveness is encouraged for the sake of enabling boys to give of their best, rather than simply for the sake of winning. Boys are given the opportunities to succeed and develop through to the elite level in one or more of many different sports. All boys participate in inter-school competitions usually on Saturdays during term. Inter-school matches are organised under the auspices of the Combined Associated Schools (CAS).
